with breast and cervical cancer through the BCC Program or Lovelace

- Gas reimbursement for women in rural areas who require travel for radiation and chemotherapy; and
- Other services deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
If you are in the BCC Program or are part of the Lovelace Sandia Health
System and think you MAY be eligible for the Anita Salas

About The Fund
The "Drive for Life" Fund was created in 1996. In 1998 it was renamed in honor and memory of Anita Salas, the manager of the New Mexico Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, who led efforts to establish the Fund.
Since 1996, more than 200 women have received valuable assistance from the Fund. They have received diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, breast biopsies and mastectomies. Women who live in remote rural areas have received funding to travel to Albuquerque or Santa Fe for radiation and chemotherapy. Because donations are limited, physicians and clinics throughout the state have helped by reducing their fees so that more women can benefit from this Fund.
